The Helm is a single, carefully curated, 160sqm space in Brisbane's CBD built from an eclectic mix of influences, where layered materials and collected objects give every shoot and gathering immediate depth and atmosphere. The floor plan centres on a generous main space with a series of intimate nooks coming off it - large enough to hold a full room of people, but populated with corners that reward a closer look.
The Helm was founded on the conviction that the best work happens in environments that feel alive. Every object and texture has been chosen with intention to create a recognisable, considered atmosphere. No styling from scratch. No compromising on your vision. A space that arrives already at your standard, and quietly raises the bar from there.
The Helm was founded by Bec Newman, Creative Director and founder of Top Mast - an international creative studio specialising in art-led campaign creative direction for communications agencies.
Bec brings to The Helm over fifteen years of experience working at the intersection of visual storytelling, brand strategy, and content production - built across the UK, EU and Australia, and across a client base that includes some of the world's leading communications agencies.
After years of working with brands and agencies on the visual quality of their campaigns, and understanding from the inside what creative production requires in terms of environment and atmosphere, she identified a gap in Brisbane's market that her own clients encountered repeatedly. The Helm is the answer to that gap.
